Providing Risk Management and Flight Training Solutions for Unmanned Aircraft System Operations

Parsippany, New Jersey – Global Aerospace, Inc., announces that through their partnership with Unmanned Safety Institute (USI), they have made available a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for small UAS operations. The Visual Line of Sight SOP outlines general operating procedures for an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) and will be made available to qualified Global Aerospace customers. USI is a subsidiary company of Global’s SM4 program partner, Waypoint Global Strategies.

Through the SM4 program, Waypoint and USI provide Global’s UAS customers with discounted consulting and data analytics services and access to flight training. USI has developed an SOP that will serve to further enhance our SM4 program by providing an industry leading resource to Global’s customers.

“Standard procedures are the foundation of safe operations,” said Alex Mirot, President at USI. “We are excited about offering this SOP manual to Global Aerospace customers as a way to promote safety and reduce errors.”  USI offers their clients customized workshops, assistance in drafting and adopting policy and procedures, risk assessment and management, safety assurance, as well as safety promotion.

Chris Proudlove, Senior Vice President, Team Leader, Complex Risks at Global Aerospace stated, “Global Aerospace continues to develop products and tools for the rapidly growing sector of UAS. This comprehensive manual will provide an excellent resource for operators of small UAS.”

Chris commented further, “With the release of the NPRM, the FAA’s position is becoming clear for operators of small UAS: they will need to act responsibly and receive training. Our partnership with Waypoint /USI enables us to deliver industry leading services to help our customers achieve these goals.”

Visit Global Aerospace at Booth #5228 at HAI Heli-Expo in Orlando, Florida to hear more about how our industry affiliations and tailored insurance programs are leading the way in risk management for UAS. Waypoint and USI representatives will be available at our booth during the convention from March 3-5, 2015 for a meet and greet as well as an interactive simulator demonstration.

    Suzanne …

I am at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC), as the Project Manager of the CERTAIN UAS Test Environment. I’m responsible for UAS test ranges (under COA) at LaRC and Ft Eustis, as well as operations of our SR-22 UAS Surrogate and UAS operations under a NASA/FAA Memorandum of Agreement. How can I get a copy of your sUAS SOP? My interest is in understanding better what the commercial environment is supporting, because part of my charter is to make NASA LaRC’s National Airspace System access available to a wide variety of partners, including, of course, industry. My personal philosophy is to move commercial UAS operations toward more formalized training and certification – which will move forward FAA’s recognition of routine NAS access for commercial UAS operations, and further acceptance of UAS operations by the wider aviation community.
Anyway … please let me know!
